Cross Canadian Ragweed, a band formed in Yukon, Oklahoma in 1994, broke up in 2010. Cody Canada and Cross Canadian Ragweed, bass guitar player Jeremy Plato, along with some well-known musicians from the Texas and Oklahoma music scene went on to form The Departed.

Thanks to the world of streaming radio I discovered Cross Canadian Ragweed, a band formed in Yukon, Oklahoma in 1994. The Band's name was derived from band members Grady Cross, Cody Canada, and Randy Ragsdale. I bought four of their albums on CD. They toured mainly in the south, but I saw them live in Pennsylvania. A great band, but I thought they never quite reached mainstream success because they were a bit too country sounding to be rock, and a bit too rock sounding to be country. Doesn't matter, in September 2010, the band broke up.
Well, not quite broke up, but reborn, Cody Canada and Cross Canadian Ragweed, bass guitar player Jeremy Plato, along with some well know muscians from the Texas and Oklahoma music scene went on to form The Departed. They are often listed as a country band, but to me, this is southern rock.

As far as The Departed, I just getting back into re-discovering them. The predecessor band Cross Canadian Ragweed charted a few songs on the country charts. When I saw them in concert I took my two daughters with me who were both teenagers at the time and they thought the band really rocked. When we saw them in concert they were definitely rocking!
